Delicious Fried Chicken in Lemongrass Marinade

published by beingwell on Jul 22, 2011

Here’s another fried chicken recipe for you and your family. It’s an easy way of how to cook chicken with a twist.

Enjoy reading!

Have you tried my recipe on How To Cook Fried Chicken? It’s really fun, simple and very easy to do. You’re family may even prefer dining in after you serve them with that delicious chicken meal.

Now let’s try a different approach in cooking fried chicken. This one’s Viet-inspired. Again, it’s quick to prepare and can be easily done. Ready? Here’s what we need:

-Bite-sized chicken legs and wings

-Fresh lemongrass herbs

-Fish sauce

-Crushed garlic

-Cooking oil

-Pepper (optional)

How to prepare the marinade:

Our lemongrass needs to be cut/chopped into straws. I don’t have the traditional mortar and pestle at home but there’s always our reliable blender. I just toss the lemongrass in there and let the blender do it’s work.

Add in 2-3 tablespoon of fish sauce and crushed garlic. If you want to add a bit of spice, feel free to throw in some pepper in the mixture. Mix well.

In a dry container, put the chicken pieces and the mixture together. Make sure the sauce is evenly distributed among the chicken. Lastly, add in a dash of oil to help our poultry absorb all the goodness of our ingredients.

Set aside. You may cook this dish after marinating for 30-45 minutes. Cover and place it in your fridge while marinating.

If you wish to cook it on a later time though, put it in the freezer. When it’s time to cook, simply thaw and you’re ready to fry.

How to fry the chicken:

In cooking, we can either deep-fry or pan-fry. For this instance, I’ll show you how we can pan-fry them.

Place your clean fry pan unto the stove. We want our stove to be on high-heat. The key in this technique is to have a very (I mean very) hot pan so our chicken will be cooked beautifully.

When the pan is ready, pour in a bit of cooking oil. Not too much, just enough. Then immediately put your chicken pieces one by one. You don’t need to wait for the oil to heat up since our pan is already hot.

Leave it for a few minutes until golden brown. When so, do the other sides of the chicken.

You can put in additional oil as you see fit.

Serve with hot rice. Easy right?
