Delizioso: Garlic Lime Chicken

published by Anna ReckSick on Jan 8, 2009

You don’t always have to go to KFC or McDonald’s to get your dinner. You can make healthy dinners for under $10.

When it comes to TV, everyone knows you can’t always trust what you see. Especially when it comes to junk food. They say delicious and good, but is it really so? Well, I think not. Garlic Lime Chicken is a meal that, according to nutritionists, actually provides some health benefits. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  • pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion
  • powder
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • 4 boneless chicken breast
  • halves
  • 1½ tablespoons butter
  • 1½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/3 cup low sodium chicken broth

Method

In a small bowl, combine the seven ingredients on the list and sprinkle the mixture on both sides of the chicken breast halves. Next, in a skillet, heat butter and olive oil together over medium-high heat; saute the chicken until it turns a golden- brown (this should take around 5 minutes on each side). Remove from skillet and keep warm. Add some lime juice and chicken broth to the skillet, whisking up all of the browned bits from the bottom of the pan.  Cook until sauce has reduced slightly.  Return the chicken to the skillet to thoroughly coat with the sauce.                 ¡Voila!
