How to Cook Fried Chicken: Easy with NO Fancy Techniques!

published by beingwell on Jun 30, 2011

It’s supposed to be easy, but it took a while till I finally learned the trick!

I like eating fried chicken. I just didn’t know how to cook them. I always end up overf-frying or under-frying them. Sometimes it’s too salty, and sometime inedible even. Good thing there is always good’ol KFC and McDonalds to supply us with chicken breast and drumsticks.

That was all in the past. In time, I learned how to finally cook a yummy and fulfilling fried chicken. No need to pressure cook the chicken, too.

Here’s how.

Prepare the chicken. Dress it with salt, pepper, garlic and lime. Use as much garlic as you want. You can never go wrong with garlic. After all, it’s not known for being an herbal wonder drug for nothing! Mix them altogether and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

It’s optional to use chicken breadings. If you’re using it though, you may want to pour some of the breading unto a dry plate. One by one, roll your chicken unto the flour. Just enough breading will stick to your chicken, and the chicken will still maintain its own taste.

Then, we’re ready to cook!

Heat your pan. Put your stove into medium heat. You don’t want your chicken to be overcooked outside while leaving it undercooked inside. Now, put some cooking oil into the pan. You need enough oil to allow your chicken to be dipped entirely. I always choose small chicken parts in cooking this meal. It’s easier to deep-fry this way.

Let it fry. One way of cooking it faster is run a fork into it to allow the juiciness of the chicken to escape. When it’s golden brown, take it out of the pan.

Easy right? Now you have your very own Kentucky Fried Chicken-homestyle.

Chow time!

Fried chicken can be tricky for sure. Luckily, I learned from my mom at an early age how to tackle the task. Always cook over medium heat as you said.
