Buttercream Frostings and Their Flavors

published by pattiann on Jun 8, 2012

Here I am going to give you a basic buttercream frosting and how to make various flavors. Hope you enjoy =) Caution, in the hot temperatures these frostings soften, if this happens to you add some cornstarch until it is the way you want it.

1/2 cup butter that is room temperature

1/8 teaspon salt

1 large egg yolk

1 Tablespoon milk

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

In a large bowl, cream the butter. Beat in the powdered sugar. Beat in the salt and egg yolk. Add just enough yolkto make the frosting able to spread. Flavor with my suggestions or make up your own, the sky’s the limit!

Orange buttercream- add 1 teaspoon orange liqueur.

Rum buttercream-  add 1 teaspoo rum.

Lemon buttercream-  add 1 teaspoon lemon extract.

Raspberry buttercream-  add 1 teaspoon raspberry liqueur.

Coffeebuttercream-  add 1 teaspoon strong coffee.

Brandybuttercream-  add 1 teaspoon brandy.
