Dal Butter Fry: A Delicious Item
This is one of the most common delicious item prepared in almost every north Indian house. This item is mostly used with Indian bread.
Dal (Pulse) fry –Butter
Let me clear it out before proceeding ahead and writing this recipe of ‘Dal Fry; or ‘Dal Butter Fry’ these are two different things all together. One is fried in clarified butter the Dal fry where as lot of butter is used after preparing the one I am going to present here for your consideration. Finally, this recipe is, dedicated to my wife, as I know nothing about cooking but eat, that also whatever she cooks.
Here is the list of items you need to prepare Dal fry-butter:
- Black gram whole pulse -200 gm (Urad Dal whole)
- Black Bengal gram pulse -100 gm (Chana Dal)
- Butter 200 gm
- Onions 150 gm
- Tomato 200 gm
- Green chilly 10gm
- Ginger 2 TSF sliced
- Coriander leaves 1 small bunch
- Clarified butter 50 ml
- Turmeric powder 1TSF
- Salt According to taste
- Mixed spices this is mixture of pepper, clove Indian baby leaf Tej patta, cumin etc.
- Asafetida a small pinch
How to make it:
Keep both Dal in water to get soft for about 10-12 hours before cooking them. Now just before you want to serve them boil these two Dal and have to use only turmeric powder and salt at this stage in a pressure cooker for about 10 minutes, until the Dal get soft enough.
Now let the clarified butter heat enough before putting chopped onions, tomato, ginger and chopped chilies to fry until onions become deep brown, use all the other spices at this stage. Keep coriander leaves ready chopped properly in very small pieces.
You Dal are ready to serve, just take hot Dal out of the cooker and mix it in the frying pan with other material you have just fried. Stir it well and let it heat for few more minutes to allow it to mix it well.
Serve this preparation hot with lots of butter and coriander leaves. Please do not accuse me if any thing goes wrong, as I have tried this for the first time. This is my wife who would take the responsibility.
