Garlic Pizza: Decadent

published by Holly J. Harrington on Jan 10, 2009

This is one of my favorite pizzas. It’s also versatile because you can convert it to a regular pizza.

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza crust
  • 1 container of garlic spread (You can make your own. Use lowfat or regular butter/margerine)
  •      Personal Recipe:   One regular pizza shell or bread dough spread out on a pizza pan.
  •                                   1 1/2 to 2 sticks of butter, spread or margarine
  •                                   3 to 5 cloves of garlic to taste
  •                                   3 tbsps to 1/4 c of olive oil
  •                                   2 tsp. of basil to taste
  •                                   1/2 tsp. of oregano to taste
  •                                   1 tsp. of parsley to taste
  •                                   salt and peper to taste
  •                                   1/4 c. Parmasean cheese or to taste
  •                                   12 to 16 oz. of Mozzerella Cheese

Directions for recipe:  Chop garlic by hand or use a processor add softened butter, spread or margarine, oil, herbs, pepper and salt and parmasean and whip together.  Spread on your pizza crust and add your cheese. See below for other instructions.

Any of these meats or vegetables:

Pepperoni                           Chopped Broccoli

Ham                                    Chopped Mushrooms

Bacon                                 Chopped or Sliced Tomato

Italian Sausage                  Chopped Onion

Hamburger                         Chopped Pepper (hot or mild any kind you like)

Anchovies                           Chopped black olives or green

Method

Chopped Chicken or Turkey (You could make Buffalo Wing Pizza which is hot sauce and butter. You’ll have to look up recipe for Buffalo Wings and use it on the chicken or turkey. You could use some of the wing sauce under your chicken and cheese as the sauce base or a plain spread. Use your imaginations I’m sure.)

Or any meat or vegetable you can think of that would taste good on a pizza.

Preheat oven to about 350*.  Cook until crust looks golden brown or pizza melts and a little speckled with color.  Check bottom make sure not burning.  Use parchment paper you can spread a light coating of cooking spray under parchment, definitely butter flavor. Or spray pan with cooking spray.

1.  Use a regular triangular pan 10 X 15 or Medium/Large round Pizza Pan.  If you buy a ready made pizza crust let sit at room temperature for a little while.  If using regular dough like store brands like Pillsbury or regular pizza dough shape to the pan and let sit out to room temperature let it rise a little and get lukewarm.  If making homemade this is ok to.

2.  Some stores have pizza sauce and garlic spreads in the deli section.  If you make your own see above.

3.  Spread your favorite sauce/spread (softened at room temperature) on pizza dough.  Just enough to go over pizza depending on how much you like. If you need to soften spread do so at low temperature in microwave probably 10 second bursts but try not to melt it make it spreadable.

4.  Add whatever toppings you like and then your favorite cheese.

Put in the oven and watch it get golden brown.  Enjoy the flavor.  There really is no wrong way or right way to make pizza so enjoy!  This is a simple recipe I’m just giving you some ideas so enjoy what you like.
