Uses for Herbs, Traditional and Other Uncoventional Uses
Here I am going to tell you lots about herbs and their uses.
Dill is mild and tastes a but like anise
This herb is usually used for boiled potatoes and salmon. Did you know you can make a butter that tastes of dill?
You need 2 to 3 Tablespoons of fresh dill chopped up and then combine it 1/2 cup supermarket bought butter that is room temperature and a little bit of salt and pepper.Mix well and make it into a log shape, (Like the butter is shaped when you buy some at a supermarket.) Store it in plastic wrap in the refrigerator and slice it for pats of butter as needed.
Cilantro smells like fresh mown lawns but has a bit of citrus in it. It is usually used in chutney and Asian meals.
Get one small bunch of cilantro leaves and blanch in boiling water for 5 seconds. Then drain well after you rinse them in cold water. Put it in a blender and puree with one cup olive oil. Stream through a coffee filter. Then use as a dressing on a salad. You can keep this for up to 2 weeks in a refrigerator.
Oregano is strong in flavor and has a peppery taste. It is most often used in Italian style tomato sauce and garlic bread. You can also use it to stop coughs. Use either 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried or 1/4 cup fresh oregano leaves. Simmer either one in 2 cups barely boiling water. Let sit, covered, 15 minutes after you remove it from heat. Drink warm sweetened with honey.
Parsley is mild with a grassy taste most people use it for boiled potatoes and cold soups. It can also be used for getting rid of your bad breath. To get rid of your bad breath chew on a sprig of fresh parsley.

I use fresh dill in a tossed green salad, along with fresh cilantro as well. Cilantro and dill make a fine combination on red potatoes as well…I grow many herb plants and enjoy them year-round!
