Ingredients
- Steamed chow mein noodles
- garlic
- chicken (or any meat of your choice)
- white mushrooms
- carrots
- cabbage
- bean sprouts
- seasonings
Method
- In a small bowl, marinate the sliced chicken with soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder and a little bit of sesame oil.
- Bring water to a rolling boil. Add a little bit of oil.
- Put noodles in the boiling water for 1 minute.
- Rinse noodles in cold water.
- Saute garlic in oil.
- Add the chicken.
- When meat is no longer pink, add the rest of the ingredients (except the noodles).
- Add the seasonings: soy sauce, a little bit of oyster sauce and black pepper
- Transfer to a big bowl.
- Using the same skillet, put a little bit of oil and put the drained noodles.
- Add soy sauce and oyster sauce to taste.
- Transfer the noodles to the same bowl (in step # 9).
- Mix them all together.
- Transfer to a serving bowl.
- Serve while hot! Yummy!
Tips:
- After rinsing the noodles in water, you can drizzle some olive oil so the noodles are more smooth and not sticky.
- You can substitute with any meat and vegetables you like.
- Whenever I cook this dish I make a large batch so there will be left-overs for the following day. This saves me time cooking! It’s great to bring to work the following day, and also for the kids’ lunch.
- You can garnish it with chopped green onions and sliced scrambled eggs if you’d like.
- You can also experiment with other flavors and spices. I’ve tried putting curry flavor and it tastes delicious too!
- This is a great dish to bring to potluck.
