Fast and Easy Pancit Recipe
This article teaches how to make the authentic Filipino specialty, pancit bihon. This is an easy dish you can make for dinner tonight! It is also a wonderful dish to share with family and friends in a potluck party. Everyone loves pancit! It’s very easy to make and tastes delicious too.
Fast and Easy Pancit Recipe
Pancit is a very popular noodle recipe in the Philippines. This dish is enjoyed by many people throughout the world, not only by Filipinos but by many nationalities. This is the basic recipe to make pancit. You can substitute the ingredients with what you have available on hand.
Ingredients for the Pancit:
1 package of dried rice noodles (also called bihon)
Vegetable oil or canola oil
2 cloves of garlic – minced
1 pc onion – chopped finely
1 ¾ cups chicken meat or pork
2 carrots – sliced into strips
½ green cabbage – sliced into strips
¼ cup soy sauce
Dash of ground black pepper
Green onions
Hard boiled eggs, sliced (optional)
Method to Make The Pancit:
1. First, in a bowl soak the rice noodles (bihon) in warm water until it becomes soft.
2. Drain the rice noodles and set it aside.
3. In a wok or non-stick pan, sauce the garlic and onions in hot oil.
4. Add the meat and mix well.
5. Add the vegetables – carrots and green cabbage.
6. Add the soy sauce and mix well.
7. Season with black pepper.
8. Add the drained rice noodles and mix well.
9. Transfer to a serving plate.
10. Garnish with chopped green onions and chopped hard boiled eggs.
11. Serve hot. Enjoy!
Tips: You can also use chopped, leftover barbecue chicken. Any leftover meat you have from the previous night’s dinner is a perfect ingredient for the pancit! You can also make it all vegetarian if you want.
