For a person seeking a simple way of cooking salmon, the following is a guide that will give some ideas.
The first step of cooking salmon is to collect the necessary ingredients. They are:
- Salmon fish,
- Olive oil,
- Pepper and salt.
It is important for one to bear in mind some few factors when selecting the salmon fish. One, ensure that the fish is bought with the skin still intact. Two, when buying the fish, it is advisable to ask for the “centre cut” piece of the fish. Thereafter, one must remember to cut the fish into appropriate sizes. One may also have to choose between wild salmon and farmed salmon. The difference between the two is that farmed salmon is more readily available thus cheaper than wild salmon. However, wild salmon has a stronger flavor compared to farmed salmon. Having gathered the necessary ingredients, one can proceed to the next step which is cooking the salmon.
To this end, pre-heat the grill to a temperature of between 300 and 325 degrees then brush the salmon with olive oil while ensuring the skin stays intact. Meanwhile, mix pepper and salt together and sprinkle on the salmon. In order to achieve a more delicious flavor, apply mayonnaise on the salmon. For perfect marinating, whisk together six tablespoons of olive oil, three table spoons soy sauce, one teaspoon minced garlic and mustard and blend in the mixture. While applying the mayonnaise, brush the mixture on the fish with the skin facing downwards. Place the fish on the preheated grill until it is fully grilled then pour the remaining mayonnaise on the salmon. One can also use other ingredients like tomato olive salsa or lime butter sauce. Thereafter, turn the salmon on its side and cover the grill. Cook for exactly four minutes in order to avoid overcooking the fish. For effective results, remove the salmon from the grill while looking slightly raw on the inside. Given the tenderness of the fish; the salmon will continue cooking even as it sits.
