My Kitchen Rules Australia Grand Final 2012

The MKR Grand Final results and whether it is a deserving win or the competition winners are decided before anyone even cooks in the show.

The Third series of My Kitchen Rules Grand Final was on last night with Leigh Sexton and Jennifer Evans competing against the competition favourites since they first cooked Nic Mazzone and Rocco La Bella all contestants coming from South Australia. Nic and Rocco had been up and down through the top twelve competion when they needed they produced quality food and Rocco produced restaurant quality desserts almost everytime.

Leigh and Jennifer also battled through the top twelve and also fighted amongst the pressure of being stressed almost everytime they cooked and didn’t always put up a dish that deserved to be in the competion at all but still seemed to be good enough to please Pete and Manu. Leigh and Jennifer were put in a sudden death cook-off by the jury which were made up of former contestants.

Nic and Rocco had to race the hardest part of the Semi Finals by competing against their closest friends Carly and Emily from Victoria. Rocco and Carly would have found it alot harder as they had found a relationship during the show which they had tried to keep a secret but was found out and shared amongstthe rest of Australia. Nic and Rocco beat them by just a single point which made it harder on Nic and Rocco even though they was happy on making the Grand Final but knowing now they would face Leigh and Jennifer.

Leigh and Jennifer had to compete against tasmania couple Megan and Andy who was just a legend at cooking seafood. Leigh and Jennifer weren’t happy coming up against Megan and Andy knowing that they would be cooking a seafood dish which would be almost a winner for them. Megan and Andy cooked 3 perfect dishes that deserved grest results but the judges gave them nothing and Leigh and Jennifer were the first team to make the Grand Final which I believe the Tasmanian couple Megan and Andy should have been in.

The Grand Final comes to more disbelief to me than this Nic and Rocco who cooked seared moroccan tuna and cured salmon, bug tails with fennel puree and chorizo essence, spatchcock two ways, pork belly with potato discs and fresh horseradish, and chocolate and raspberry pop delight. Judges thought all was wonderful dishes and Nic and Rocco’s only let down was that their third dish spatchcock two ways was not plated up to their best ability as they just ran out of time.

Leigh and Jennifer cooked crab congee, scallops in XO sauce, quail with barberry and quinoa, wagyu beef ribs with bone marrow and cauliflower puree, and chocolate hazelnut cake. While they was cooking they burned on the bottom the XO sauce twice and yet both times the girls said “it still was ok”. The judges thought their crab congee was almost a lack lustre dish for a finale with their comments and with the Scallops in XO sauce Guy Grossi practically said the burning of the sauce added an extra punch to the sauce.

When it came to do the scores Nic and Rocco scored 52 and I thought yes they had one but to my astonishment knowing their comments to the first dish and the burning of the sauce and missing a component of the dessert Leigh and Jennifer scored a 58 to win My Kitchen Rules. Now to me if you burn something it is no good, if you miss a part of a dish that is a sin in a restaurant and if something is lacking in a dish no one will want to buy it again.

I can’t see how the Judges can give those scores at all. To me I believe now that Leigh and Jennifer and Nic and Rocco was picked to be in the Grand Final by the producers whether they cooked a good or bad dish in the series or even the semi finals as it proved with Leigh and Jennifer and Leigh and Jennifer was picked to be the winner of the series so it isn’t a competion to be one it’s just a competion to be apart of to lose to a pre-picked winner.

It was close to 3 million people watching maybe with a story like this if it ever made a magazine it would change what people thought about it because im sure their is more than half of those people thinking why didn’t Nic and Rocco win My Kitchen Rules 2012
