The Five Unhealthiest Menu Items at Red Lobster

published by Videomark on Feb 25, 2011

Red Lobster is a chain of seafood restaurants that opened in 1968 in Florida. The restaurant offers a variety of steak and seafood dishes with a moderate level of pricing structure. Seafood is normally a healthy dish, but when you add rich sauces and seasonings, it can become a nutritional nightmare. Here are the five unhealthiest menu items at Red Lobster.

Garlic Crab And Shrimp (full portion)

1540 calories

78g fat

4090mg sodium

A full portion of the Garlic Crab And Shrimp contains more than a day’s worth of both fat and sodium. It also has almost all the calories you need for an entire day. This dish is definitely not for people who suffer from high blood pressure.

Seaside Shrimp Trio

1010 calories

55g fat

3940mg sodium

The Seaside Shrimp Trio contains fried shrimp, garlic shrimp, and shrimp linguini. The shrimp linguini comes in a rich white sauce that is high in sodium. This is a prime example to avoid alfredo style dishes at restaurants.

Hot Tip – Restaurant Items With The Most Calories

Crispy Calamari And Vegetables

1520 calories

97g fat

3050mg sodium

This dish is on the appetizer menu and one would think that any item that contains vegetables would be a good choice. The calamari is amazingly high in fat and sodium. This dish has one of the highest fat contents on the menu and it is only an appetizer.

Steak Lobster And Shrimp Lobster

1170 calories

77g fat

2770mg sodium

This dish contains a lot less sodium than most items on the menu, but it still has 110% of the recommended daily allowance.  The 77g of fat is alarmingly high considering that it contains steak, shrimp, and lobster.

Admirals Feast

1280 calories

73g fat

4300mg sodium

I saved the best for last. The Admirals Feast contains a combination of four different types of seafood. The bad thing is that all four items are deep fried. Add a garden salad with ranch dressing and one cheddar biscuit and you would have consumed 1680 calories, 100g of fat, and 5135mg of sodium. You better go on hunger strike after this meal.
