My children love pizza and getting one at the pizza place will cost me more than $6 for a six-inch personal pan pizza, which will set me back at least $30 for a family of four.

I did a little research and found that for the same amount of money, I can make enough pizza to feed 3 families and it is very easy to make.
If you know how to make bread, then it’s easy to make pizza!
To make a Hawaiian Pizza, you will need:
Ingredients for Pizza Base
- 2.25 tsp yeast or 1 sachet of instant yeast in ½ cup of lukewarm water
- 2 cups of milk, warm to room temperature
- 3 Tbsp of honey
- 1 Tbsp of oil (I use rice husk oil)
- 1 Tbsp of salt
- 3 cups of bread flour
- 2 to 2½ of plain flour
Toppings
- Pineapple (cut into small pieces)
- Ham (cut into small pieces)
- Mushrooms (sliced thinly)
- Tomato sauce (I use pasta sauce)
- Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
Method:
- Let the yeast blooms a little in the ½ cup of lukewarm water in a mixing bowl. Mix in the honey and milk.
- Add 3 cups of bread flour, oil and salt, mix well. Stir well in the same direction, giving it a good beating to get some air bubbles into the mixture. If you have a mixer with a bread hook, you may want to consider using it. By now, you should have a thick paste.
- Add in the 2 cups of plain flour and mix well. The mixture should now be doughy but probably sticky. Turn it out onto a floured surface and start kneading, adding flour as you knead until the dough does not stick to your hands. Knead for 15 minutes or so until it is thoroughly kneaded. The dough will feel kind of silky to your touch.

- Roll the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap. Place the dough in a warm place to rise for about an hour.
- If you use 5 cups of bread flour instead of a mixture of 3 cups of bread flour and 2 cups of plain flour, you will find that your dough double in size. However, your pizza base will be quite fluffy. The dough in this recipe will not rise as much but will give you a thinner base.
- After an hour, take the dough ball out and gently knead it for a minute or so. Make a new ball and put it back into the bowl to rise again, for about half an hour.
- Repeat your brief kneading one more time and cut the dough into two. Press half of the dough gently onto a 12-inch pizza pan until it covers the whole pan – this will form the base of the pizza. Do the same with the other half.
- Preheat the oven for about 15 minutes at 180˚C.
- Spread the tomato sauce (pasta sauce) evenly onto the pizza base before distributing the ingredients for the topping evenly onto the dough. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously onto the toppings.
- Place the pizza into the oven for about 20 minutes.
Voila! A piping hot pizza to be enjoyed!
*Note: You can always experiment with other toppings once you have mastered making the pizza base.
