10 Easy Steps To The Perfect Beef Stew and Dumplings

A step by step recipe for beef stew and dumplings that is very easy yet extremely tasty to make.
Ingredients:
(For 2 people)
For the stew:
- 350g / ¾ lb cubed stewing beef
- 250g / ½ lb baby onions
- 250g / ½ lb carrots
- ½ tsp flour
- 450ml / ¾ pint hot water
- Salt & pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil.
- Bay leaf
- For the dumplings:-
- 90g / 3oz self raising flour
- 40g / 15oz shredded suet
- Chopped flat leaf parsley
- Salt & pepper
- Approx. 3 tablespoons of water
Method
- Fry the meat and onions until brown
- Sprinkle in the flour and mix well
- Gradually stir in the water and bring to the boil, season
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour
- Add carrots and bay leaf and simmer for further hour
- For the dumplings, sieve flour into a bowl
- Add suet, chopped parsley and salt and pepper
- Add water to make a soft dough
- Flour hands and roll dough into smallish balls
- Drop dumplings in to the top of the stew to cook for the last 20 minutes
Perfect and tasty stew.
