Bombay Sliders with Garlic Curry Sauce

Ground turkey breast, rich Indian spices, and these mini burgers are the old favorite hamburger made new again – and they are low fat and healthier, too.

Whole grain mini dinner rolls are ideal for the sliders. Plan to serve three burgers per person, and top with grilled tomato, red onion, and fresh cucumber slices.

Cook your sliders either on a grill or in a grill pan where any unwanted fat from the ground turkey will run away from the burgers. Brush grill with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Garlic Curry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fat-free mayonnaise
  • 6 ¼ tsp curry powder
  • 1 ½ Tbsp plain low-fat yogurt
  • 1 ½ Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Preparation

  1. Mix ¾ cup mayonnaise, 2 ¼ tsp curry powder, and next 3 ingredients in small bowl for sauce.
  2. Let stand at room temperature while preparing sliders.

The Sliders

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground turkey breast
  • 6 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • ¼ cup minced green onions
  • 2 Tbsp minced peeled fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • ¾ tsp hot chili powder or Hungarian hot paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 12 Small whole grain dinner rolls, cut horizontally in half and lightly toasted.

Preparation

  1. Place turkey ,remaining ingredients, remaining ¼ cup mayonnaise, and 4 tsps curry powder in large bowl. Mix with your hands just until blended (don’t over mix). Divide into 12 equal portions. Using wet hands form each portion into patty about ½-inch thick.
  2. Cook on preheated grill until sliders are cooked through (175-degrees), turning once. This should take 3 or 4 minutes for each side.
  3. Serve patties on bottom half of rolls, with a bit of sauce, grilled vegetables, fresh cucumber, and top half of the roll . Serve additional sauce separately.

Along with some fresh fruit and a refreshing drink, this is a pleasing and satisfying meal for almost any time of day.
