How to Make Rogan Gosht

This is a great non-vegetarian dish and it can be easily prepared at home and will be loved by all.

Ingredients

  • Lamb boneless cut into medium sized cubes ½ kg
  • Lamb meat on bones – ½ kg
  • Ghee – ¼ cup
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Fresh ginger peeled – 1
  • Cinnamon – 3 long
  • Black Cardamom – 4 break it open
  • Cumin seed – ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper – 8
  • Dahi/ yogurt – 1 ½ cup
  • Paprika – 3 teaspoon
  •  Red food colour – 2 drops
  • Red chilli powder – 1 table spoon
  • Salt as per taste
  •  Water 2 cup
  • Chopped onion – 1 cup

Method


Make a paste of onion, ginger and garlic and keep it aside. Now take a heavy bottom pan, heat ghee, fry lamb till meat turns golden brown. Remove and keep aside.

Now add to it cumin seeds and shahi jeera, fry till golden brown for 2 minutes. Now add to it onion and ginger garlic paste  and keep on stirring it till all the moisture is gone, add to it cinnamon, black pepper, cloves and cardamom and fry for 2 minutes and now add the fried lamb, add yoghurt to it and keep on frying till it gets dried. Add all the remaining ingredients and fry it except water. After 2 minutes add water to it, reduce the flame and let it cook on low heat till all the water is absorbed and meat gets tender.
