Italian Meatballs Recipe

A recipe for Italian meatballs.

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound of ground beef
  • ½ pound of ground pork
  • ½ cup of bread crumbs
  • 1/3 to 2/3 cup of grated parmesan or pecorino romano cheese
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic chopped finely
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 dash of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ to 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 small onion chopped (if desired)
  • Olive oil

Method:

  1. Combine ground beef and pork together
  2. Shape to meat so there is a deep indentation in the middle and to that, add the egg
  3. Hand mix together the meat and egg
  4. Form another indentation in the meat and add the rest of the ingredients (add water as needed but not too much that the mixture is too wet)
  5. Continue to hand mix the ingredients until they are all evenly distributed
  6. Form balls of about 1- 1 ½ inches in diameter
  7. Lightly heat some oil olive in a frying pan and add the meatballs to the oil
  8. Fry meatballs on all sides for about a total of 5-7 minutes
  9. Meatballs may still be pink in the middle at which point I add to a marinara sauce already cooking for another hour. The meatballs will continue to cook in the sauce
