Preparing the perfect “Noche Buena” is a long stressful process especially for the busy household. To help you on what delicacies that you are going serve your loved ones this Holiday Feast. Here are the ingredients and procedures in making your own Ham this Holiday Season:

Filipinos, traditionally, prepare in “Noche Buena” with delicious foods like Ham, Quezo de Bola, Castañas, Salad, Morcon, Spaghetti, Cakes and a lot more! Other families desire to celebrate this grand occasion with Ham and Quezo de Bola on the table.

However, as financial crisis still hits globally at present, consumers are being hesitant of what foods to prepare this Holiday Season. So, instead of purchasing Ham in the Supermarket, it is best to make your homemade Ham.

Raw materials to prepare:

2 kilo grams of pork buttock

8 tablespoons of salt

4 tablespoons of sugar

2 teaspoons of Prague powder

½ kilogram of brown sugar

3 pieces of Oregano

3 pieces of cloves

1 teaspoon of black pepper

1 cup of pineapple juice

Utensils:

Cooking pan

Stove

Measuring cups and spoons

Syringe with needle

Utility bowls and trays

Procedures:

  1. Divide salt, sugar, prague powder into two parts. Dissolve 1 part into 2 cups of water.
  2. Inject solution into the pork (pigi) buttock
  3. Mix remaining mixture and rub on the outer portion of meat
  4. Cool in the refrigerator for one day
  5. Wash pork, tie with straw, place n a cooking vessel with enough water to cover
  6. Add sugar and spices and cook for 2 hours over low fire
  7. Remove Ham in cooking vessel and place in a platter
  8. Melt brown sugar and pour over Ham
