Recipe for a Real Man’s Dinner

A recipe for a hearty, filling meal made for men!

Growing up there were few nights that my father cooked.  There were even fewer nights that I enjoyed what my father cooked.  My father was the king of throwing everything together.  I dreaded the weekends because lunch usually consisted of “left-over stir-fry”, which is exactly what it sounded like.  Whatever was in the refrigerator from the week before tossed into one pan with some salt and pepper and usually came out tasting horrible.

But besides mastering a grill there was one meal that my father could cook that always came out well.  It’s a man’s meal.  It has just about everything men love.  Sausage.  Steak.  Stuffing.  Gravy.  Serve it with a side of potatoes.  How could you want more?

I’m sure this recipe is around in different variations, and under different names.  But my father called it: Bruscholoni.

Bruscholoni – A Meal For Men, A Meal For Kings

Take some thinly sliced round steak.  Tenderize and pound it flat.

Prepare some stuffing, any Stove-Top whatever brand will work.

Cover the steak with stuffing.  Use your hands and make a nice layer on top of each piece of steak with the stuffing.

Pick whatever kind of sausage you want to use.  I like a spicy Italian sausage, but you can substitute if desired.

Take the sausage link and roll it up in the stuffing-covered steak.

Take some cotton string and tie the roll shut on each side.  You could use skewers but it’s easier to keep everything closed iwth the string.

Repeat as needed until you have a few rolls of meat and are out of ingredients.

Place meat rolls in a baking pan.

Cover with brown gravy.  Store-bought canned gravy, jar gravy, or homemade gravy.  Whatever you prefer.

Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour and 15 minutes.

There you go.  Simple, but delicious.  Serve it up with some mashed potatoes and you have a recipe that any man will eat and love.
