Here is a quick and simple recipe for schnitzel. There is virtually no prep time and cooks up fast. So if you get home late from work and want to whip something up, this is worth a try. Now traditional schnitzel is usually made with veal, but I prefer plain old pork chops!
Ingredients
- 1 package of thin cut pork chops
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of Italian style bread crumbs
- butter
Method
Preheat a non-stick pan on medium high heat, place a pad of butter in pan.
- Pound out your pork chops a few times on each side
- Place 2 eggs in bowl and beat together, toss pounded pork chops in bowl
- Have another bowl full of the bread crumbs and place the moistened pork chops one by one into the bowl of bread crumbs.
- Place breaded pork chops into the pan
- Brown each chop till they are a nice golden brown on each side, typically about 5-6 mins on each side depending on the heat of your pan
- Enjoy! Most Germanss love a little bit of fresh lemon squeezed on top.
I am not a professional cook or anything like that, but I love this recipe. It was given to me by my Grandmother. The perfect side to this dish is some thinly sliced and fried potatoes with bacon pieces. Another typical German dish.
