Rendang: A Traditional Sumatra Beef Dish.

The taste is great and it’s suitable for the entire family.

Ingredients

  • 1000 g beef topside, cut into 20 cubed pieces
  • 1500 ml coconut milk
  • 1 turmeric lemon grass, bruised
  • 5 kaffir lime leaves
  • 2 tbsp tamarind juice
  • a)
  • 7 tbsp sliced red chilies
  • 7 tbsp sliced shallots
  • 3 tbsp sliced garlic
  • 1 tbsp sliced turmeric
  • ½ tbsp sliced ginger
  • 2 tbsp sliced galangal
  • 2 tsp salt

Method

Blend all ingredients in a) into a paste.

In a wok, pour coconut milk, add the paste and other ingredients: turmeric leaf, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, and tamarind juice, bring to boil over medium heat until thick and oily.

Add the beef, cook until tender, stirring occasionally until dry and turns to brown.

Transfer to a serving dish and serve with rice.

*Serves : 20

*One serving : 140 Calories
