Sausage Casserole Recipe

Simple ingredients make this recipe easy to make. The flavors blend together for a tasty elegant flavor made from three simple ingredients.

A breakfast or brunch recipe is so tasty and simple to make. The combination of simple flavors makes this a favorite of many.

Ingredients:

Two cans of crescent rolls

One tube of breakfast sausage

One package of cream cheese

Directions:

Being by browning the breakfast sausage until fully cooked. Remove from the heat. Add the cream cheese to the cooked sausage while hot and mix thoroughly. The heat makes the cream cheese melt and spread easily.

* Using a baking dish (9 x 12) spray with cooking oil or grease the dish and layer out one can of crescent rolls. Pressing the seams together gently, to form one flat surface.  Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.

Then, place the sausage and cream cheese mixture on top of the heated crescent rolls.

Cover the sausage and cheese layer with the second can of crescent rolls, again pressing gently to join the crescent roll seams together.

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes until the rolls are golden brown.

Slice and serve hot.

This recipe freezes easily after initial cooking. As well as reheats well too.

Suggestions:

I often make the sausage and cheese mixture ahead of time and store in the refrigerator until morning. I then microwave the mixture for approximately two minutes to soften the mixture enough to spread easily. Then I continue with the rest of the recipe above at the *.
