Sisig for Life:)

published by mommybaby on Jan 9, 2012

I cooked this Sisig yesterday’s night to surprise my husband. This is one of his favorite Filipino dishes that I never cook since we got married.

My idea on cooking this just came out after my cousin told me that they’re having fun cooking the Sisig last Christmas.   They had their owned great recipes on how to cook Sisig. So they gave me a recipe and I took out some stuffs that I don’t like.  Like  liver, head of pork and others.   Here’s my finished product.  I took this photo while still cooking on in the oven:)

Here’s the things that I used and how I made this:

  • 1.5 lb ears of pig
  • a pound of flesh of pork
  • 1 lime
  • 1 large red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large red onion, chopped
  • 1 whole of garlic, minced
  • 1 pc of chili, chopped
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup ginger, sliced into small pieces
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • oil

Boil the water on a large pot, put the cleaned pork ears ( do not include the flesh of pork) and simmer for 20 minutes.   Prepare the grill stuffs while pork is cooking.  Drain the pork, and clean it again or take some hair on the ears of pig.  Rub the meat of salt and ground black pepper and grilled it until crispy but not burn.

Marinate the half of spices of chopped onion, red bell pepper and ginger with the soy sauce, lime and lemon then refrigerate it while grilling.

Chop the pork and add to the marinated spices, mix well and let stand 1 hour in the ref.

Preheat a greased non-stick sizzling (cast-iron),and saute the spices you had left over from marination.  Like garlic, onion, ginger, chilies, red bell pepper and others.  Add the marinated pork, mix well, cover and simmer for  about 15 minutes, medium heat.  Don’t forget to stir sometime.   That’s it! and serve while still hot with rice, pasta or whatever you may prefer to eat with, so yummy!  Have fun eating:)
