Stuffed Peppers

This is a very easy to make stuffed pepper recipe. It is a favorite of mine and has always been a hit with my friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 5 green or red bell peppers
  • 1 tbs butter
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (14.5) oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 pds ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 2 tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. First cook the rice until tender following the directions on the box on the kind of rice you like.
You can either cut the tops off the peppers or cut them in half length wise and scoop the seeds out. I prefer to cut them in half and cook them that way.
  2. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
  3. In skillet add butter, olive oil and chopped onions saute about five minutes and then add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer over medium heat for about ten minutes. Mix ground beef with the cooked rice and worcestershire sauce and together well. Add in your tomato sauce mixture.Mix well. Arrange peppers on a pan. Spoon mixture into your peppers. Pour any remaining mixture over the top of the peppers. Put in the oven and bake for 55 minutes. Enjoy
