A Recipe for Flavor
A very simple pasta dish from Italy!
Want a quick tasty meal fast! Well this is the meal for you, tagliatelle con burro (Pasta with butter) a delicious meal that can be cooked on short notice and will impress with its simple presentation and amazing flavor (University students read carefully!)
You need:
A boiling pot (for water)
Salt
tagliatelle (or ordinary spaggehti but tagliatelle is recomended)
Butter
Colander
Cooking Instructions
1. Fill you large boiling pot 3/4 of the way with water and at two large pinches of salt (Keep flame on highest setting possible and put lid on pot to shorten boiling time)
2. Whilst your water is boiling prepare one, two, three etc… bowls and put Parmesan cheese on table (this is the recomended cheese but again, personal preferences weigh into this meal)
3. Weigh out the amount of pasta you want, I’d suggest after living in Italy for four years that one person should have 85 grams, so you can work out the math for larger portions.
4. Once your water is on a steady boil pour the tagliatelle into the water and wait for about a minute, if you pick a piece of the pasta and bite and find it still hard keep cooking and checking till you have the pasta just right for you (you should note this time down if you plan to do the meal again)
5. Once your pasta is ready drain the pasta into your collinder and then get out your butter, slice off a piece that is approximatly two fingers wide (This is an approximation, but is usaually correct, you may want to increase the quantity with the more people you are cooking for) and put the butter in your boiling pot on a low heat, let it gently melt, but not burn! Don’t turn the temperature up too much!
6. Once you have melted your butter pour your pasta from the colander to the pot and gently mix with the butter, but be sure to be careful, vigorous stirring can brake the pasta.
7. You’ve stirred the pasta in the butter and now you are ready to evenly serve the pasta out, add cheese and have a glass of red wine and you have a great meal for the evening!
