Baked Ziti

Baked ziti that is quick and simple to make.

This recipe has many different varieties. I prefer quick and simple, yet I promise it is super delish! My suggestion is to really improvise with some of the ingredients. This isn’t something that you can mess up. If you prefer no parmesean and instead an Italian cheese blend…go for it.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Penne Ziti Pasta
  • 2 jars of your favorite pasta sauce
  • 12 ounces of Italian blend cheese
  • 1 8oz tub of sour cream
  • 1lb ground beef

Method

  1. Boil ziti till cooked. Drain and set aside
  2. Cook up ground beef. I typically season it with garlic for some extra flavor. Some people switch out the ground beef for an Italian sausage blend.
  3. Heat up pasta sauce. I personally like to add some fresh ingredients to my sauce of choice. So I toss in some mushrooms and fresh garlic. Add in your meat.
  4. Mix together all of your sauce and pasta in a bowl.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Spray large baking pan with some non-stick spray
  7. Toss in half of the pasta mixture
  8. Place half of the sour cheese on top, I use low fat sour cream
  9. Layer half of the cheese on top. Now some people use provolone, mozzarella, and parmesean. I have found that just getting an Italian cheese
  10. Repeat with the remaining ingredients
  11. Bake at 350 for about 30-45 mins. The trick is to make sure that all the cheese and sour cream melt together and get real nice and hot.

This makes a ton of food. When I first made it I didn’t think it would make so much, but we had left overs for 2 days. It really is a great dish. Serve with some garlic bread or veggies! Yummy!
