How to Make Pasta & a Great, Easy Sauce

A simple guide and recipe to make pasta with a delicious meat sauce that anyone can make no matter their cooking experience.

Spaghetti is very easy to make and a favorite of many; especially children. Its fairly cheap depending on how you make it and a big batch can go a long way for parents with a lot of mouths to feed. Its also a nice treat for any adult that knows how to make some good pasta. There’s no real trick to cooking the noodles though…

Cooking a Package of Noodles

  1. Boil around 4 quarts of water in a large pot or as much as you see fit for a whole package of noodles. Adjust to the amount of pasta you desire to cook.
  2. Once the water is boiling add the noodles. If it is spaghetti, I recommend snapping them in half so they can fit nicely. Cook them until tender. Try a noodle every so often; blow on it until cool or run it under water for a second.
  3. When the pasta is ready turn off the heat and strain it over the sink. Try to hold the strainer above the bottom of the sink if there is any debris in it. This way none of the draining water comes back up into the pasta with any dirt from the sink.
  4. Salt, pepper, butter, and oil as you see fit. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is great on pasta when used in moderation.

The Meat Sauce

Plain noodles with some salt, pepper, butter, and Parmesan cheese is great. But when you’re making a spaghetti dinner you’ll most likely want some sauce to go with it. Now you can go out and buy a simple jar of sauce, heat it on the stove and serve; or you can spiff it up real easy.

Buy the preferred brand of sauce. We actually use a store brand that is quite good; meat flavored or traditional.

Decide whether or not you want to have meat with your sauce or not. Ground beef or Italian sausage is good with spaghetti. If you choose to add meat cook it in a pot until it’s browned. The inside of the meat should not have any pink. Drain out any unwanted and excessive grease as it finishes cooking.

Apply the following seasonings in moderation. Add or remove a few as you see fit.

Ingredients

  • Onion Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Oregano
  • Italian Seasonings

Method

  1. Stir them in and then add the sauce to the pot of meat.
  2. To give the sauce some real flavor add a decent amount of Brown Sugar. Believe it or not, the Brown Sugar is key to the flavoring. It takes away the bitterness of the sauce and makes it taste rather good.
  3. Serve & Enjoy.

Simple, easy, and affordable.
