How to Make Pasta in a Microwave
When you don’t have access to a range, using a microwave to make pasta is a quick, easy alternative.
Ingredients
- Microwave safe container (lid recommended)
- Pasta noodles
- Water
- Olive oil (not required, but highly recommended – see below)
- Fork
- Pre-made pasta sauce
Method
- Place 1 to 2 inches of noodles in the bottom of the microwave safe container.
- Fill the container with water about a quarter of an inch above the top of the noodles.
- Pour a small amount of olive oil on top of the water. This will help limit the noodles sticking together.
- Put the lid on the container, but leave one corner vented.
- Microwave the pasta for about 3 minutes (all times based on a 1000 Watt microwave – please adjust your times accordingly) and then use the fork to separate and stir the noodles.
- Place the container back in the microwave and heat for another 3 to 4 minutes (depending on desired firmness – more time means softer noodles).
- Remove the container from the microwave, let stand for 1 minute, and then strain using the lid.
- Pour the pasta sauce on top of the noodles and stir them using the fork. Serve within 10 minutes for maximum freshness. Makes enough to feed about 2 people.
Congratulations! You have just made pasta in a microwave!
