Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon Made in the Microwave

Quick and simple recipe for the microwave.

You will need

  • 175g (6 oz)macaroni
  • 175g 6 oz streaky bacon chopped with the fat cut off
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 25g (1 oz) butter
  • 600ml 1 pint milk
  • 125g (4oz)grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon English mustard
  • salt,pepper to taste

  1. place macaroni in a large bowl with just over 1 liter (2 pints)boiling water and pinch of salt
  2. cover and cook on high power for 10 mins,drain and cover
  3. put bacon and buttering a bowl cover and cook on high power for 5 mins,stir in flour then add milk
  4. a little at a time cook on high power for about 4 mins stirring frequently
  5. mix in the mustard and most of the cheese into the sauce add macaroni and put in a dish.
  6. sprinkle on the rest of cheese then put back in microwave on high for about 5 mins
  7. brown under a hot grill
