Hot and Sour Prawns: Secret of Indonesian Food

The taste is so delicious and suitable for the entire family. It’s fast and easy to prepare. Serves four, at 205 Calories per serving.

The Indonesian traditional foods have faced many challenges from modern foods. People are considering adopting the back-to nature style. This was due to the high risk threatening the health and the most famous Indonesian food is Hot and Sour Prawns.

Ingredients

  • 500 g prawns, unpeeled
  • 2 tbsp margarine for sautéing
  • 1 tbsp sliced shallots
  • 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce
  • 200 ml water
  • 100 g tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 5 tbsp onion, roughly chopped
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp sliced garlic
  • 2½ tbsp sliced red chilies
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Method

  1. Put oil in frying pan; deep-fry the prawns, set aside.
  2. Blend into a paste: garlic, red chilies, pepper, and salt. Put margarine in a pan, sauté the paste and shallots over medium heat until fragrant.
  3. Add onion, tomatoes, soy sauce, and water. Bring to boil over medium heat.
  4. Add the prawns, simmer until the sauce turns thick and remove from the heat.
  5. Transfer on a serving dish and serve.

*Serves : 4
