Hot and Spicy Prawns

A sumptuous prawn curry – goes great with white rice. I hope you will love it!

Ingredients:

  • Tiger Prawns – 500 grams
  • Onions – 4
  • Ginger – 1 inch piece
  • Garlic flakes – 4
  • Coriander seeds – 3 tablespoon
  • Poppy seeds – 2 tablespoon
  • Grated coconut – 4 tablespoon
  • Cloves – 6
  • Cardamoms – 2
  • Cinnamon – 4
  • Green chilies – 4
  • Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • De-vein the prawns and wash them thoroughly. Mix pinch of salt and keep them aside.
  • Finely chop onions into thin slices.
  • Mix together the following: coriander seeds, poppy seeds, grated coconut, garlic flakes, cinnamon, cloves and cardamoms – grind the together to make a smooth paste.
  • Grind ginger and garlic to make a separate paste.
  • Now heat oil in a pan.
  • Add sliced onions and chopped green chilies to the oil and fry till the onion is golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste.
  • Fry got 10 minutes until the onions turn soft.
  • Now add prawns, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Sauté for 10 minutes.
  • Add a pinch of red chili powder and the prepared masala paste.
  • Stir well so that prawns get coated with the masala.
  • Add water and cook it covered for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Check if the prawns are cooked.
  • If done, cook it in high flame so that the mixture turns into thick gravy.
  • Spice prawn is ready.
  • Enjoy!
