Serve Crab Au Gratin at Your Next Get Together
Crab au gratin is a delicacy that is quite expensive when you order it at a restaurant or buy it in a supermarket. You can impress your friends and save money by making your own.
You can purchase the crab meat you need for this recipe directly from fishermen at the wharf when they unload their catch. If you live in an area where there is a crab processing facility, you can also buy the crab meat at this location.
Recipe for Crab au Gratin for 6 to 8 servings
Ingredients
- 1 lb. of crab meat
- If you buy the crab legs or sections, you will have to shuck the meat out of the legs.
- 1/3 cup of softened butter
- 1 cup of onion, finely minced
- 1 small package of fresh mushrooms, sliced finely
Method
- Saute these three ingredients in a pan for about ten minutes or until the onions are clear.

- Now add 1 tsp garlic salt, 1 tsp black pepper, ¼ tsp Tabasco sauce and a dash of cayenne pepper.
- Pour this mixture into individual au gratin dishes and sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Bake for 6 to 8 minutes on 350° making sure that the oven is hot before you place the dishes inside.
