How to Boil an Egg

Boiling an egg is easy if you follow a few quick steps.

Many people struggle to cook a great hard boiled egg. In some cases, the egg will be under boiled and will look like a gross runny mess when you go to crack the shell. Improperly hard boiled eggs can also cause the yolk of the egg to have a greenish outer layer.

In order to hard boil a great egg, you need to find a saucepan that can accommodate your eggs and plenty of water. The first thing you want to do is place the eggs in the saucepan. Make sure you do this even before you add the water. There is no minimum number of eggs that you need to use in order to get great hard boiled eggs.

Once you have all of your eggs in the saucepan, fill it with cool water until the tops of the eggs are covered. Place the saucepan on the stove and turn on the heat to medium high.

Let the eggs sit until the water comes to a boil. As soon as the water begins to boil, set the timer for three minutes. After the three minutes have lapsed, turn off the stove and remove the saucepan from the hot burner and relocate it to a safe location.

Leave the eggs in the hot water untouched for a period of 10 minutes. Once this time has lapsed, you can cool the eggs by removing them from the water and running them below some tap water. As soon as this is done, your eggs will be hard boiled!
