Mushroom Dumplings

The next time you have a pot simmering on the stove, why not add in some mushroom dumplings?

Mushroom dumplings are such a nice compliment to homemade soups and stews. Now you can enjoy dumplings with an added flavor twist, using this easy mushroom dumpling recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tbsp soft margarine or butter
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ cup of condensed mushroom soup
  • 6 tbsp. water

Method

  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Cut in margarine or butter.
  3. Add the mushroom soup and the water to make a soft dumpling dough.
  4. Drop by spoonfuls into simmering soup or stew.
  5. Cover and cook until dumplings are done.
    • Cook mushroom dumplings 10-12 minutes
    • Use only enough heat to keep liquid gently simmering
    • Test dumpling doneness by inserting a knife into the center of a dumpling. When middle is no longer raw, dumplings are done and ready to be served
  6. Mushroom dumplings should be served warm and they easily heat for tasty leftovers.
