Prawn Curry: With Coconut

An Authentic Indian delicacy… Prawns cooked in thick coconut gravy…. A must try.

Ingredients

  • Prawns – 500 gms
  • Onions – 3 – chopped into Slices
  • Chillies – 4 – chopped
  • Ginger – 1 inch long cube
  • Garlic flakes – 4
  • Coriander seeds – 4 tbsp
  • Poppy seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Grated coconut – 3 tbsp
  • Cinnamons – 4 pieces
  • Cloves – 6 pieces
  • Cardamoms – 2 pieces
  • Oil for frying
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Chilli powder – ¼ teaspoon

Method

  1. Grind coriander, poppy seeds, grated coconut, garlic flakes, cinnamons, cloves and cardamoms to make a smooth paste.
  2. Grind ginger and garlic to make a paste.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and fry onion slices and chillies till brown.
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste to it and sauté for 2 more minutes.
  5. Now add prawns, turmeric powder and salt.
  6. Fry for 10 minutes.
  7. Mix chilli powder and prepared paste.
  8. Stir well for 5 more minutes.
  9. Add water and cook till the mixture turns in gravy.
  10. Your Hot and Spicy Prawn is ready to serve.
