Honey Nut Fruit Salad

Fruit salad makes for a delicious and healthy snack.

Here’s a version I like to make with a little honey and some walnuts. The nuts add a nice texture to the fruit salad and give it a bit of a crunch. The rich colors of this salad are perfect for the fall, though this salad is fantastic all year round.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, cored and chopped into small pieces (I like to leave the peel on)
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • 2 pears, cored and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 oranges, peeled and cut into sections
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup halved walnuts
  • 1/2 cup honey

Method

  1. Mix the fruit pieces together in a large serving bowl. I like to toss the fruit so that the different kinds are evenly dispersed throughout the salad.
  2. Drizzle the lemon juice over the fruit, making sure to saturate all of the pieces. The lemon juice will help the fruits keep their colors and not turn brown.
  3. Add the honey and nuts, and stir together well. Serve as a light course or a dessert.

Makes about 4 servings
