Dutch Beets

Make tasty Dutch beets in simple steps.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water
  • 10 large beetroots
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of refined flour
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper freshly ground

Method

  1. Pour water into cooker. Add beetroots.
  2. Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 16 minutes.
  3. Remove cooker from heat. Release pressure with slight lifting of vent weight.
  4. Open cooker. Drain, peel and cut beetroots into 2 ½ cm cubes.
  5. Melt butter in a pan on medium heat. Add flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add hot water. Cook till mixture thickens (approximately 5 minutes), stirring constantly.
  6. Add beetroots and all other ingredients. Stir well.
  7. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.

    Nice way to cook beet, but I am yet to taste it and this is the only difficulty in these kind of articles.
