Hot and Sour Sauce

published by Tasneem on Sep 11, 2009

A nice blend of the spices to give a hot and tangy sauce. Good to use as a dip too.

Ingredients

  • 5-6 tomatoes(boiled)
  • 2 tbsp. white vinegar
  • 2 tsp. dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. chilli sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red chili power
  • 1 tsp. red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp. corn flour(dissolved in a little water)
  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Blend the boiled tomatoes into a smooth purée.
  2. Strain to  discard seeds and skin.
  3. Add in all the remaining ingredients except the cornflour and bring to a boil.
  4. Thicken by adding the cornflour slowly.
  5. Cool and use as a dip or as a pasta sauce.

Enjoy!
