How to Make Homemade French Fries: Awesomely Good Baked French Fries

published by NaomiR on Oct 27, 2009

If I had my way, I’d eat French fries every single day for every single meal. Unfortunately, fries aren’t so good for you, especially when they’ve been drenched in oil. That said, I like preparing these baked french fries, which are highly seasoned and satisfy my potato cravings. I like to keep the seasoning light, but feel free to adjust the proportions on the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 large baking potatoes (I prefer to leave the skins on, but you can peel them)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp parmesan cheese sprinkles
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp curry powder

Method

  1. Wash the potatoes, then cut them length-wise; next, cut each oval length-wise into long, thing strips. I usually end up with 7-9 strips per each potato half.
  2. Mix the oil and vingear together. Brush or drizzle the olive oil/vinegar mixture over each potato strip.
  3. Mix the rest of the dry ingredients together so they form a spice blend. Using a teaspoon, sift a little of the spice/cheese mixture over each fry, making sure that they’re evenly coated.
  4. Place the fries on a large well-greased or non-stick baking tray, making sure that the fries don’t touch. You don’t want them to stick together and you want them to cook evenly.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside, but not burnt.

If you have a larger crowd or want more fries, repeat the process.
