How to Make Homemade French Fries: Awesomely Good Baked French Fries
published by NaomiR on Oct 27, 2009
If I had my way, I’d eat French fries every single day for every single meal. Unfortunately, fries aren’t so good for you, especially when they’ve been drenched in oil. That said, I like preparing these baked french fries, which are highly seasoned and satisfy my potato cravings. I like to keep the seasoning light, but feel free to adjust the proportions on the ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 large baking potatoes (I prefer to leave the skins on, but you can peel them)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp parmesan cheese sprinkles
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp curry powder
Method
- Wash the potatoes, then cut them length-wise; next, cut each oval length-wise into long, thing strips. I usually end up with 7-9 strips per each potato half.
- Mix the oil and vingear together. Brush or drizzle the olive oil/vinegar mixture over each potato strip.
- Mix the rest of the dry ingredients together so they form a spice blend. Using a teaspoon, sift a little of the spice/cheese mixture over each fry, making sure that they’re evenly coated.
- Place the fries on a large well-greased or non-stick baking tray, making sure that the fries don’t touch. You don’t want them to stick together and you want them to cook evenly.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside, but not burnt.
If you have a larger crowd or want more fries, repeat the process.
