Mint Pilaf Rice or Mint Pulav

Mint Pilaf rice or Pudina Pulav as it is popularly called in Hindi is a yummy dish, which will impress your taste buds and do good to your health as well.

Serves 2 or 3

200gms (1 cup) of Basmati Rice

1bunch of mint leaves

1 green chilli split (optional)

1 tsp garlic paste

1/2 tsp ginger paste

1 medium sized onion

4 cloves

2 cardamoms

1 small cinamon stick

1/2 tsp of corriander powder

1/2 tsp of cummin powder

2 tbps of oil

Method:

1. Slice Onions.

2. On a medium flame, heat 2 tbps of oil and

 add cloves, cardamom, cinamon and cummin seeds and wait till cummin splutters

3. Add onions and saute till brown, add cut mint leaves and saute for a few seconds

4. Add washed plain basmati rice to this

5. Add double the quantity of water to the rice – that is 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.

6. Add corriander powder and cummin powder

7. Add salt to taste

As a optional ingredient add half a lemon’s juice at the end and allow the mixture to cook.

The aroma of this rice is very appetizing and the ingredients are all very healthy. One can even use olive oil in low heat for this recipe.
