Salsa – The South African Way

How to make salsa.

Ingredients

  • Two large firm tomatoes (finely chopped and juice strained)
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium, sized bird eye chillies (finely chopped)
  • white pepper
  • sprinkle of salt
  • sprinkle of dry basil
  • sprinkle of dry parlsey
  • 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Tip

For best aroma and taste, prepare the salsa an hour before serving and refrigerate.

Method

  1. Mix the chopped tomatoes, onion and chillies and mix
  2. Sprinkle the salt, dry basil, dry parsley, white pepper and mix
  3. Cover and leave in the fridge until near serving time
  4. Add the balsamic vinegar
  5. Add the olive oil, mix and let your guests enjoy.

Serves 4 but proportion in ingredients can be increased to serve more.
