I love pizza.

And a good sauce really makes a pizza what it is.

Here is a simple yet delicious tomato pizza sauce you can make at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes, depending on the variety you may have to put these in your blender or food processor to puree finer
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp of sweet basil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • pinch of oregano
  • Pinch of fennel

Method

  1. Finely dice the onion and garlic and saute in a saucepan with the olive oil.
  2. Add the sweet basil, a pinch of fennel, and a pinch of oregano to the mix just before the onions go translucent and the garlic starts to brown.
  3. Once the garlic just starts to brown add the tomato puree and stir.
  4. Simmer until reduced to pizza sauce consistency.  That’s about a 1/3 reduction.

Enjoy!
