If you are tired of the same old marinara sauce how about taking things up a notch and making smoky marinara? The following recipe for smoky marinara yields 6 cups of sauce. It is estimated that you will need ½ cup of smoky marinara sauce per serving of pasta. The sauce pairs well with fresh pasta, an antipasto salad, glass of robust red wine, and crusty fresh Italian bread.
To make the smoky marinara sauce you will need to first assemble the following ingredients;
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 minced garlic cloves
¼ cup chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 (28 ounce) can un-drained crushed fire roasted tomatoes

Once you have your ingredients assembled it is time to start cooking. Take a large saucepan and place it over medium heat, add oil. Add garlic, basil, parsley and oregano to the pan and sauté for 1 minute being sure to stir frequently. Stir in vinegar and remaining ingredients. Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes. Once the sauce is done simmering, ladle it over your pasta of choice and serve.
