The Month of Marinades: Mongolian Sauce

published by Lauren Axelrod on Dec 1, 2008

A wonderfully flavorful and rich sauce for a roast, lamb chops, fish, or poultry. Traditionally prepared in a wok so if you have one, set it aside for dinner tonight.

Ingredients

1 Red Chili-seeded and sliced

1 Green Chili-seeded and sliced

1 tbsp Hoisin sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp chopped garlic

2 tbsps peanut oil

1 tsp brown sugar

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/2 tsp sea salt

Method

1) Combine the garlic and oil in a sauce pan and heat until garlic is browned.

2) Add the remaining ingredients and heat to boiling.

3) Remove from heat and pour over the top of your entree.

4) Garnish with crystalized ginger and scallions.

I’ll have to try this one. I love Mongolian, but the restaurant we used to haunt doesn’t make it as well as they used to. And I’ve never found a good recipe. So now you’ve got me motivated to try this on the husband..lol!
