Southern Cole Slaw

Tangy and sweet Cole slaw.

Slaw Mix Ingredients:

  • 1 sm. head of purple cabbage sliced paper thin
  • 1 sm. head of green cabbage sliced paper thin
  • 1-2 granny smith apples peeled and sliced into thin sticks
  • 1 red onion sliced
  • 1 cup of toasted pecans or walnuts
  • 1 carrot skinned and shredded

Dressing Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs good brand Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • ¾ cup of mayonnaise
  • Lemon juice from one freshly squeezed lemon
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic
  • ½ -¼ tsp salt (depending on taste)
  • ½ tsp cumin

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients listed under “dressing,” in a large bowl.
  2. Add all the ingredients listed under “slaw mix” into the bowl.
  3. Use tongs to combine all, just till all the ingredients are moist.
  4. Top with a few dashes of Paprika and serve.

    You know, I never used to like cole slaw until I moved down south. I love this stuff now. This recipe sounds awesome. I might have to make this tonight with some burgers.

    I love cole slaw. It is funny how I find this articles around lunch or dinner time. I will have to try your recipe tommorrow when I go to my friends house to take care of him. (I am a care provider).
