The Perfect Aromatic Rice Recipe

published by riverfly on Jul 25, 2009

Many people get in trouble with cooking rice. If you follow these simple steps you are guaranteed to have a plate of tasty, perfectly cooked fluffy rice.

Method

  1. Start off with good quality rice. Save yourself time and money and go buy a bigger bag of Basmati rice at an Asian shop
  2. Wash a cup of rice under running COLD water for a minute and leave it to stand in a bowl of water for 30 minutes.
  3. Keep in mind, that rice expands in volume during cooking. One cup is for 2 huge portions
  4. Put the rice in a pot with a heavier bottom. Add water. Ratio is 1 to 1,5. So, if you are cooking 1 cup of rice, add 1,5 cups of cold water.
  5. To make the plain rice more aromatic and pleasant to the senses, season it with a pinch of salt, pepper, 2 cardemon pots and 2 cloves or anise seeds. Put a lid on the pot.
  6. Now bring the rice to a boil as quickly as possible. Keep the lid on. As soon as it`s boiling, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for 8 to 10 minutes with the lid on. It is important to keep the lid on and not lift it. This allows the rice to cook faster in it`s own steam.
  7. Check the rice after 8 minutes. The water should be absorbed. If there is still some water, cook for another 2 minutes. Take the cardemon pots and cloves and anise out. Take a fork and pass it through the rice to make it fluffy.

You`re done! Enjoy!
