Bacon and Lentil Stew
This rich and hearty, bacon and lentil stew has an amazing taste. Delicious bacon taste great, when mixed with lentils. The bacon and lentil stew has the perfect combination of voluptuously flavors and textures.

This scrumptious bacon and lentil stew recipe, has a delicious mixture of tasty ingredients, that include onion, carrots, celery and potatoes. All combined in a flavorful chicken stock. I love this bacon and lentil stew, it’s the perfect twist on one of my favorite foods and it’s really easy to make in about and hour and 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1lb Rind less Bacon (Diced)
- 1 Onion (Chopped)
- 2 Carrots (Sliced)
- 2 Celery Sticks (Chopped)
- 1 Turnip (Chopped)
- 1 Large Potato (Chopped)
- 3oz Green Lentils (Rinsed and Drained)
- 1 Bouquet Garni
- 2pt Chicken Stock
- Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Method
Heat a large casserole dish and add the bacon. Cook over a medium heat, stirring the bacon, for five minutes or until the fat runs and it is tender. Then add the onion, carrots, celery, turnip and potato, and cook for another five minutes.
Then add the lentils, bouquet garni and stock. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for one hour, until the lentils are tender. Remove and discard the bouquet garni, and season with salt and pepper. Serve the bacon and lentil stew hot with some fresh baked bread.
