Chestnut Beef Casserole

2 pounds ground beef

1 cup uncooked rice

1 can mushroom soup (cream of)

2 cans cream of chicken soup

1 cup diced celery

1/2 cup diced green pepper

1 medium onion

2 cans water chestnuts (drained and sliced)

1 pound fresh mushrooms (or 2 cans) sliced

2 cups boiling water

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

Brown and drain beef. Combine with other ingredients; add salt and pepper to taste. Put in large casserole. Cover with slivered almond. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serves 8 to 10.
