Cream of Mushroom Soup, Homemade

published by pattiann on Apr 3, 2011

We all buy cream of mushroom soup in a can. Did you ever think you are paying for the can? Do you wish to try and make it yourself? Here is a omemade sauce my sister puts on broccoli and covers with shredded cheddar cheese and melts it all together. YUMMMMY!

1/2 POUND FRESH MUSHROOMS

2 small slices onion, chopped

4 cups milk

1 cup evaporated milk

1 tsp salt

2 Tablespoons butter

Wash mushrooms and chop fine. Place mushrooms and onion on top of double boiler, add milk and cook over boiling water, stirring occasionally until mushrooms are tender, about 45 minutes. Add evaporated milk and salt and stir in butter.
