Curd Rice – a Tasty Method
My husband’s favourite curd rice is just to mix plain curd directly to the plain rice along with little salt. A piece of pickle on its side completes the lunch box.
But my version is different.

My husband’s favourite curd rice is just to mix plain curd directly to the plain rice along with little salt. A piece of pickle on its side completes the lunch box.
But it can be done in another way also, that would be more tasty (according to me).ds
Ingredients
1. Curd 1 cup
2. Plain rice 1.5 cup
3. One Big onion or few shallots
4. Dry red chili – 2 or 3 (or Green chili)
5. Curry and coriander leaves
6. Oil, mustard & Urad dal for seasoning
7. Salt as per need.
Method
1. Cook plain rice and keep it aside.
2. Chop one big onion or else, 4 or 5 shallots (Shallot would be the best) finely.
3. Keep a pan in stove.
4. Add little oil
5. Add mustard and Urad dal. Let the mustard spurt and Urad dal turn little brown (don’t burnt it)
6. Add 2 or 3 dry red chili (if not available, you can used green chili also. It also smells and tastes good) and a handful of curry leaves.
7. Add the chopped onion and stir till onion gets fried.
8. Add this fried items to a cup of curd.
9. Add salt in the curd. Mix the curd with the plain rice.
10. Add the chopped coriander leaves on top. Note: Don’t pour the curd into the hot pan and boil. It will spoil the whole taste. You can also use the moru vathal (chili dipped in buttermilk and dried) as an alternate of red chili here.

Adding a pinch of asafoetida powder and ginger crumbs will also add taste to the curd rice which has been one of my favourites

Nice indeed. Curd rice is one of my favorite dishes. Previously when I used to pass through Madras Central railway station,I used to purchase one packet of curd rice.
